The Kyondo Sub-county NRM Executive Committee has approved the consultative meetings of Edwin Bayiringa Kugonza a head of the party primaries elections.
Last week, Kugonza declared his intentions to the office of the Kasese Resident District Commissioner and the district NRM office to contest in the Bukonzo East Constituency NRM party primaries.
Over the weekend, Kugonza met with the Kyondo sub-county NRM executive and the meeting at Kanyenze Cooperative Society was chaired by sub-county party chairperson, Jimmy Kalimunda.
After listening keenly to Kugonza, the members approved his plans and assured him their support during and after party primaries.
He authoritatively confirmed three names including, Robert Finance Syaipuma and Edwin Bayiringa Kugonza as people who have so far declared their interest on the NRM ticket.
Modesto Balinadi, the Kyondo NRM Publicity Secretary explains that the executive is laying strategies to convince other party members to have a sole candidate in the forthcoming general elections on the parliamentary seat.
He added that they will engage all the aspirants and talk to them so that they convince them for the benefit of the party to win the Bukonzo East Constituency parliamentary seat which has been in the hands of the opposition for more than 20 years.
But, Ndobya Mwanzi, a resident of Kanyatsi village in Kyarumba sub-county says sometimes, the seat falls in the hands of the opposition because of internal confusion within the NRM party.
