The acting Kasese District Education Officer, Mr. Ernest Bwambale Thabugha vowed to deal with some teachers who allegedly refrain from taking up their new deployments in the hard to reach areas.
Mr. Thabugha’s comments follow Monday’s incident in which some teachers at Kihungu Primary School in Kyarumba Sub-county temporarily halted the morning lessons, arguing that their number was insufficient to handle the 502 pupils at the institution.
Ms. Loice Kabugho, the School’s Head teacher, told our reporter that despite receiving three new teachers to supplement the efforts of eight, the newly deployed ones have since disappeared from the institution in a period of less than one month.
In an exclusive interview with our reporter at his office today morning, Mr. Thabugha strongly condemned the act and vowed to deal with whoever would be reported to his office having fallen into a culprit.
According to him, his office is doing its best to evenly deploy teachers in all parts of the district but to his dismay, some of them decline to take up their new deployments without giving genuine reasons.
He used the same platform to encourage the parents to support the children while at school as one way of improving their performance.
Thabugha also observed need for the parents to put their children with disabilities in schools so that they feel comfortable in the communities that they come from.
