Rev. Ezra Mukonzo Yongeza, the Rwenzori Regional Coordinator for the Interreligious Council of Uganda has asked the residents in Kasese district to be aware of the conmen who according to him have started using the names of religious leaders to falsely obtain money from the people.
The Church Minister says that such conmen imitate the voices of renowned people to defraud the victims of their money.
In a separate interview with Messiah Radio, Rev. Mukonzo described such impersonators as thieves who must be fought against since they use tricks to defraud people of their money.
He has since discouraged people from sending money on telephone numbers that are registered in the names that they are not familiar with.
As a Church Minister, Rev. Mukonzo appeals to the conmen to desist from the act before attracting curses on to themselves.
