BY JOACKIM KULE

A suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel has been arrested by security operatives in Kasese district.

The suspect whose name has been withheld from the press was arrested yesterday from Ndongo village in Nyakiyumbu sub-county, Bukonzo County West after being seen by the residents who immediately alerted the nearby security operatives that swung into action to apprehend the suspected ADF rebel.

Lt. Maate Magwara, the Kasese Deputy RDC in-charge of Bukonzo County confirmed the development to our reporter today morning and revealed that the suspect is currently detained at Bwera Divisional Police headquarters.

According to him, the residents were forced to alert security operatives after a strange person who was moving in the area inquired from them the shortest route to Bundibugyo district.

After his arrest, the suspect was found in possession of a movement permit indicating Nyahuka Village in Bundibugyo district, opium, wet sand and some stones.

Lt. Magwara commended the community members for their vigilance and support rendered to the security forces in eradicating the bad elements from the society. He, however, discouraged the people from attempting to beat, injure and kill anyone they suspect, arguing that the act destroys evidence.

His arrest comes just a day after security operatives captured one of the ADF Commanders and killed at least two rebels along Lake Edward in Katwe – K’abatoro Town Council.   ENDS
