Kasese Youth Link for Development has expressed concern over the increasing cases of school dropouts especially in Kinyamaseke Town Council and Munkunyu sub-county.

Mr Ronald Kato, the executive director at Kasese District Youth Link, a community based organization says the rate of school drop-outs due to teenage pregnancies and early marriages remains alarming.

Speaking to students at Munkunyu Secondary School in Kinyamaseke Town Council, yesterday, Mr. Kato Ronald emphasized the need for young girls to have dreams and aspirations and work towards their obtainment.

He cautioned them against premarital sex, involvement in bad peer groups and drug abuse; vices he said could derail them from achieving their dreams.

Mr. Kato revealed that his organization has embarked on awareness and sensitization campaigns in schools to offer life skills to learners especially the girl-child.

Ms. Esther Byakatonda, a teacher at Munkunyu Secondary School, said the initiative is very timely and will go a long way helping young girls make informed decisions and subsequently help curb the alarming cases of teenage pregnancies within the communities.

Some of the learners at the school appreciated the CBO for its message and committed to adhering to what they have learnt before appealing to their colleagues to also desist from engaging in negative practices.
