Minister Kabbyanga re-affirms government’s commitment to protect Ugandans and their property

The Minister of State for ICT and National Guidance Mr. Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga Kiime has re-assured the people of Kasese that security organs remain committed to ensure safety of all Ugandans and their properties despite recent security lapses.

His comments come shortly after suspected Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebels carried out an attack at Katholhu village in Nyakiyumbu Sub County, killing two people dead instantly and injuring two others.

The assailants also torched a trailer registration number UDN 624L in which the four were travelling at Katholhu I Village, Katholhu Parish in Nyakiyumbu Sub County.

Now today, while addressing the press at Shiloh Gardens in Kasese town, Mr Kabbyanga regretted the incident but assured residents that the security operatives have launched the hunt for the insurgents before adding that security personnel have also been deployed at service facilities especially schools and health centres.

About concerns by local residents to have some Local Defense Units armed, the minister said the matter is still under discussion although he added that Uganda is not yet in a crisis.

It should be noted that the incident happened barely a week after the UPDF repulsed another attempted entry into Uganda at Nyabugando I Cell in Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Town Council.

In June this year, suspected ADF rebels entered into the country and wreaked mayhem at Mpondwe-Lhubiriha Secondary School where 38 learners and seven community members were killed. About five other students were also abducted. Ends.
