Government to massively transfer secondary school Head teachers

Government has revealed plans of massively transferring secondary school Head teachers come next year.

The revelation was made on Tuesday by Mr. Joseph Nzukwa, the Rwenzori Regional Chairperson for the Association of Secondary School Head teachers of Uganda – ASSHU while addressing a General Meeting of Head teachers from Kasese district at Bwera Secondary School in Mpondwe – Lhubiriha Town Council.

Mr. Nzukwa explained that the plans to massively transfer the Head teachers are meant to pave way for them to also get used to other places of work but not overstaying at the same schools as if they were established for them.

He asked the Head teachers to use the remaining time to prepare the schools that they are currently commanding so that their colleagues who would replace them find when the offices are fully organized.

However, the Regional ASSHU Chairperson appealed to the government to confirm some Head teachers who are running schools but in an acting capacity. According to him, it was not good for some people to reach their retirement ages when they are still working in an acting capacity.

Mr. Silver Aisu Epiu, the Head teacher at Munkunyu Secondary School in Kinyamaseke Town Council who also doubles as the Secretary for Academics under ASSHU cautioned his fellow Head teachers against involving themselves in all sorts of malpractice as they prepare for the forthcoming UNEB examinations slated to begin on Friday this week.

According to him, malpractice is costly because it leads to cancellation of some examination centers once identified.
