Christian Women Fellowship in South Rwenzori Diocese Encouraged to Emulate Mary Magdalene in Fulfilling Christian Obligations

Members of the Christian Women Fellowship in South Rwenzori Diocese ministry received an encouraging message during their recent celebration at St Paul’s Cathedral. The Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku, Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese, urged the women to follow the exemplary footsteps of Mary Magdalene, their matron, in effectively fulfilling their Christian obligations.

The Christian Women Fellowship was founded with the aim of nurturing various categories of women, including widows, those in unsolemnized marriages, unmarried women, and those who have recently reformed, to remain steadfast in their Christian lifestyle.

During the event, Bishop Baluku highlighted the significance of Mary Magdalene, who was the first person to witness the resurrection of Christ. He emphasized the love of God towards women and encouraged them to draw inspiration from her devotion and dedication.

Furthermore, Bishop Baluku stressed the importance of women appreciating their intrinsic value, maintaining self-respect, and becoming role models within their communities.

Ms. Faith Makombo, the Coordinator of the fellowship at St. Paul’s Deanery, expressed her gratitude for the establishment of this ministry in the Diocese, acknowledging its potential to strengthen the faith of women believers.

The celebration witnessed the enrollment of 96 new members into the Fellowship from St. Paul’s Deanery, including 44 from St. Paul’s Cathedral, 23 from St. Stephen’s parish, 18 from Muhokya, and 11 from Kyaminyoku. Similar celebrations were held at the headquarters of other archdeaconries.

Additionally, at St. Matthew’s Ibanda Church of Uganda Parish in Ibanda-Kyanya Town Council, Rev. George Gatasha enrolled several others into the ministry. He encouraged the new members to seek guidance from the Holy Spirit in carrying out their duties.

The celebration marked a significant milestone as it was the first of its kind to be celebrated across the entire diocese since the ministry’s launch last year.

The event’s spirit of unity and devotion has set a positive tone for the Christian Women Fellowship as they continue to serve their community and strengthen their faith.
