Muhindi and Sarah Baleke receive a warm welcome in Kasese after nominations

Hundreds of voters in Kasese district today morning thronged Rwimi Bridge in Rugendabara – Kikongo Town Council to welcome Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi and Mrs. Sarah Ithungu Masereka Baleke as they returned from Kampala after being nominated for the positions of District Chairperson and Woman Member of Parliament respectively.

They were nominated yesterday by the National Resistance Movement Party Electoral Commission to participate in the primary elections ahead of the forthcoming 2026 General Elections.

The duo landed at Rwimi Bridge at different intervals as the voters who had stood along the roadsides and at some trading centres praised the ruling NRM party for the development projects initiated for the benefit of the people in their respective communities.

Ms Christine Atuhaire and Beatrice Muhindo said they were excited because their favorite candidates had been dominated, adding that they were hopeful that after obtaining the flags, they would also succeed in the General Elections.

Addressing his supporters at Rugendabara Trading Centre, Mr. Muhindi who is seeking a second term said he was committed to serving the people so that they realize sustainable socio-economic livelihoods.

Mrs. Baleke, who was hosted at Trans -Africa Inn in Kasese town told the gathering that she was seeking re-election for that she maintains the party flag

She pledged that she would continue supporting community saving groups and schemes, expectant mothers, girl-children and people’s education if she becomes a Member of Parliament.

The nominees also reached the Kasese party offices to handover their certificates of nomination to the registrar.

Mr. Joseph Musisale, the Kasese NRM Deputy Registrar welcomed the duo and told them to wait for the real time of holding official rallies.
