The South Rwenzori Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku has committed himself to fighting for the Head teachers of schools within Kasese district whose work might be allegedly disrupted by government officials.

The Bishop made the commitment today while addressing Head teachers of all the Church of Uganda founded schools across the Diocese at St. Paul’s Cathedral in Kasese town.

The Prelate said he was not happy with the common vice of arresting Head teachers who ask the parents to buy chalk for their children to be instructed well.

He wondered why such Head teachers who are promoting education in the district are arrested by government officials.

The man of God used the same platform to ask the Heads of Schools and other institutions founded by the Church of Uganda to love and respect the jobs that they have.

He disclosed that he was happy with the idea of deploying 100 teachers that Kasese District Local Government is yet to employ to the hard to reach areas and be given good allowances. The Bishop believes that the idea will help the boost academic performance in schools. 

Rev. Alice Nabirye, the Secretary for the Academic Committee in the South Rwenzori Diocese commended the Head teachers for the good performance registered at their various institutions of learning and encouraged them not to relax. 

She cautioned the political leaders and other stakeholders against the practice of politicizing schools arguing that the act has influenced many institutions of learning to perform poorly.

Rev. Geneva Rebeckia Kabugho, the Chaplain at Mundongo Primary School revealed that they managed perform well in the 2024 Primary Leaving Examinations because of team work and engaging the examiners to teach the teachers the best methods of setting up questions among others.

Rev. Asa Masereka Kiriaghe, the Director of Education in South Rwenzori Diocese urged the teachers to be exemplary so that the learners and parents copy from them.
