The Executive Director at Uganda Youth Forum in the office of the first lady, Mr. Leonard Imanishimwe, has encouraged the youth in Kasese District to embrace the saving culture saying it is a valuable habit that can have a significant impact on their economic well-being.
He says through saving, the youth can realize financial stability, invest in education, skills and entrepreneurial ventures.
Mr. Imanishimwe sounded the remarks yesterday in a written speech that was delivered by his Political Assistant, Mr. Neckson Thakeramboko at the official launch of Kisanga Ward Youth Events Managers Group which was held at Rwenzori College of Management and Leadership Skills in Nyamwamba Division, Kasese Municipality.
Imanishimwe, who gave a donation of shillings 500,000 to the youth group, also observed the need for the youth to improve their financial literacy and decision making skills.
Mr. Nason Mukundi and Samson Mumbere Mutahunga, who were the co-guests at the event, appreciated the idea by the youth, noting that such community groups if well utilized could enhance their economic independence and self-reliance.
They also stressed that embracing a saving culture could also have a help the community to realize economic growth and development.
Mr. Hilary Bwambale, the Group Chairperson who reported that they were having 150 members appreciated the donation.
He asked the leaders to always lobby for the youth so that they benefit from the government programs that are aimed at eradicating poverty and fighting against unemployment.
