Officers from the Uganda People’s Defense Forces (UPDF) have camped at Nyakimasa Health Centre III in Bwera Sub-county, Kasese district to offer medical services to the residents as one way of giving back to the community.
The medical camp is part of today’s Tarehe Sita celebrations.
A team of nine men and women in uniform camped at the facility yesterday morning and immediately started with counseling, laboratory, Art Clinic Services among others.
Grace Balina, the team leader of the UPDF officers who is also the in-charge at Kavera Health Centre III in Hima says they will spend more than 15 days offering medical services to the people as an alternative way of strengthening their social relations with the civilians.
According to him, at least 200 people received services on the first day.
Mr. Uriah Mugisha, the in-charge at Nyakimasa Health Centre III says he us happy with the UPDF for supporting the facility. According to him, their support has led to an increment in the number of clients at the health centre.
A section of community members who thronged the facility described the services offered by the UPDF as timely.
They, however, observed the need for the health facility to be elevated to another level so that it begins offering theatre services.
