Kasese District officially releases UPE results

At least 74 Primary Leaving Exanimation (PLE) results of the 2024 candidates from Kasese district are still withheld by the Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) on allegations of malpractice.

The affected candidates are from Kasenyi Primary School in Lake Katwe sub-county and Kalonge Primary School in Kyarumba Sub-county.

Kasenyi Primary School that registered 26 candidates has had only 01 candidate receive the examination results whereas at Kalonge Primary School that registered 72 candidates, only 23 have received their results.

Speaking during the official release of the 2024 results for Kasese district at the multipurpose hall in Kasese town, the acting Principal of Schools, Mr. Sylvest Baluku, explained that UNEB would invite the affected candidates and the officials that supervised the affected centres, Head teachers and the District leadership to the security committee for a fair hearing before a final decision is made.

He revealed that Kasese district registered a total number of 12,755 where 695 scored the first grades translating to 5.5%, 7,620 passed in division two, 2,810 in division three (22.3%), 1,008 in division four (8.0%) and 451 were ungraded (3.6%) while 171 were absent (1.3%).

According to him, the best performing government grant-aided schools were Mundongo Primary School, Nyabugando Parents, Bwera Church of Uganda Primary School, Nyambuko SDA Primary School, Rwenguhyo Primary School and Nyamirami Primary School among others.

He also named the best performing privately owned schools including Ibanda Progressive, Global Vine, Kithulha Model, Junior Angels Model and Vision Model among others.

The worst government grant-aided primary schools were Ntunga in Buhuhira Sub-county, Kyabolokya in Mpondwe – Lhubiriha Town Council, Kasangali Bwesumbu SDA and Kanyangwanji in Bwesumbu Sub-county,  Kabirizi in Lake Katwe sub-county, Kaghorwe and Buhyoka in Kyondo Sub-county, Bweyale in Mukunyu sub-county and Bikone in Maliba Sub-county.

Baluku named the best three candidates with six aggregates as Prince Mumbere from Ibanda Progressive, Boaz Twinomugisha from Kithulha Model and Hassan Mumbere from Junior Angles Model School.

He reported an improvement in the number of candidates who qualify to join the secondary level compared to the 2023 candidates.

The Kasese District Chairperson, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi who was represented by the Secretary for Finance, Planning and Administration, Sharon Musoki, appealed to the teachers to focus on quality education than producing half barked learners.

The Kasese District RDC, Lt. Joe Walusimbi reiterated that he would continue dealing with Head teachers who would be reported to his office having chased the learners from school purposely for school fees.
