BY ISAAC MUMBERE

A section of residents from Kisibuzi Cell in Katiri Ward, Bulembia Division of Kasese Municipality has revealed that the water project that was initiated Madaraka Cares in the area has helped them from trekking long distances in search of safe and clean drinking water as well as curtailing the spread of water borne diseases to the people.

Velina Biira Sikulimunyu says before the project, the residents would suffer from a number of diseases including cholera and typhoid, adding that they are currently living healthy lives.

Sikulimunyu also narrates that they had started experiencing domestic violence cases especially after walking long distances looking for water and sending children during the night hours hence making their husbands angry.

Mr. Godwin Bikoba, another resident is optimistic that the number of children who had stopped going to school purposely to trek long distances in search of safe and clean water will come to an end.

Mr. Kesi Kikenge, the Local Council I Chairperson for Katiri Cell says the water project now serves over 500 households in the area.
