Kasese Deputy RDC tips the residents on the value of settling conflicts outside courts of law

The Kasese Deputy Resident District Commissioner in- charge of Bukonzo County has appealed to residents to embrace settling their disputes outside courts of law so as to save costs.

Lt. (Rtd) Maate Magwara made the appeal on Friday while addressing community members of greater Kitholhu sub-county at St. Philips Isango Church of Uganda.

He had gone to the area to attend meeting to calm a section of residents who had declined to portions of land for community development infrastructure like the roads.

The meeting involved those people who claimed that infrastructural development had affected their properties in the area and yet there are no plans to compensate them.

Now, addressing them, the RDC appealed to the residents that they need to minimize rushing to courts of law and embrace mediation, explaining the burden that comes with litigation costs in the courts of judicature.

The Kasese District Environmental Officer, Mr. Augustine Kooli noted that all development projects always come with a cost and thus urged the residents to embrace local patriotism for the greater good of their communities.

Kabwe village LCI Chairperson in Kitholhu sub county, Mr. Manasi Mbusa emphasized the need for the district authorities to always to sensitize the communities whenever they are about to embark on projects that are likely to affect individual members of the community. ENDS
