Three Parish Chiefs arrested in Kasese district on the same day on allegations of mismanaging PDM funds

Two Principal Town Agents from Kisinga Town Council, Bukonzo County East in Kasese district have been arrested on allegations of misusing the Parish Development Model funds.

Those arrested include Ms Scovia Ithungu and Mr. Mulhumbira J. Bongoman, the Town Agents for Nsenyi and Rwenguhya Wards respectively.

They were arrested last evening together with Geoffrey Muhindo, the Chairperson for Nsenyi PDM SACCO, Augustine Ngelese, the Chairperson for the loans committee and one Ms Kimerangwe, the Treasury of the same SACCO.

The suspects who were detained at Kisinga Police Station by the time of the arrest are accused of mismanaging funds by giving them to the people who do not belong to the cells (villages) within the said wards (parishes). .

Lt. (Rtd.) Maate Magwara, the Deputy RDC in-charge of Bukonzo County who is the main complainant in the case told the meeting that was held at Kisinga Town Council Hall that he decided to order for the arrest of the said persons after a public outcry indicating that they had mismanaged the program funds. 

Mr. Bosco Baluku, the Principal Town Clerk for Kisinga Town Council acknowledged that he had also received petitions from the Local Council I Chairpersons accusing their SACCO leaders and the embattled Principal Town Agents of mismanaging the funds.

Earlier, Lt. Magwara had arrested the Parish Chief for Lyakirema in Nyakiyumbu Sub-county, Mr. John Idembe, over related accusations. ENDS
