BY OBED KULE KITHENDE

Government has given 437 iPads to the implementers of the Parish Development Model (PDM) programme in Kasese district.

The iPads were given to the Parish Chiefs, Parish Development Model SACCO Chairpersons and Sub-county Community Development Officers yesterday at Kasese Youth Polytechnic in Nyamwamba Division of Kasese Municipality.

Officiating at the handover function, the Kasese Assistant RDC, Mr. Henry Kabiriri, said the devices should be used to store the programme’s data for its effective implementation.

Mr. Kabiriri, who warned the beneficiaries against politicizing the programme, reminded them to stick to its aims and objectives.

According to him, the Parish Development Model Programme was initiated by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to improve people’s household incomes so that the country is moved from subsistence to the money economy within five years.

In his remarks, the District Chairperson, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi appealed to the Parish Chief, Parish Development Model SACCO Committees and Community Development Officers to always monitor their members in an attempt to ensure that the programme benefits the real intended beneficiaries without extorting money from them.

Mr. Julius Baluku, the District Production Officer who also doubles as the Focal Person for the Parish Development Model programme revealed that in two months time, the President would be Kasese to assess the impact of the initiative.
