National Water and Sewerage Corporation has cautioned the public taps operators against the practice of charging much more money from water users.

Mr. Andrew Muhumuza, the Manager for Kasese Branch says despite the current water crisis in some communities in Kasese town, the operators of public taps ought not to increase the money required for one to access a jerrycan of water.

According to him, all public tap operators are mandated to charge between shillings 50 and shillings 100 per jerrycan of water.

He has threatened to cause an arrest for the public taps operators who might be reported having exploited the consumers.

Muhumuza also cautions the members of the public against making any attempts of connecting water illegally, arguing that the act does not only cause a financial loss to the government but also leads to water shortage.

He explains that National Water and Sewerage Corporation distributes water from the treatment plant basing on the number of users that are officially known by the body.
