The Chief for Buthale Parish in Kyarumba Sub-county, Kasese district has been arrested along with the Parish Development Model SACCO Chairperson on allegations of giving money to the people who do not exist on the list of the approved programme beneficiaries.

Mr. Moses Mbokani and Augustine Bwambale were arrested last evening after a closed meeting with the Kasese Deputy RDC in-charge of Bukonzo County, Lt. Maate Magwara at his office.

Magwara told the press shortly after handing the suspects to police at Kasese Central Police Station that he decided to arrest the suspects after an outcry from three members of Buthale PDM SACCO the programme implementers did not disburse the funds to their names and yet available records showed that their particulars received the money.

Lt. Magwara also revealed that they were hunting for another suspect, Mr. Jethro Bwambale, a computer operator who is on run.

The President’s Representative in the District said he had tasked the suspects to account for the money and reveal the particulars of the people who received the funds on behalf of the approved names.

He vowed to make a follow- up on other SACCOs that have been reported to his office with similar challenges.

According to him, they will not sit in their comfort zones when the government’s programme that is aimed at eradicating poverty from the communities is being mismanaged by the implementers.
