Authorities in Kasese Municipality have revealed that they will prioritize the opening, gravelling and tarmacking of some major roads in the urban centre in these last two quarters of the current 2024/2025 Financial Year.

Last year, Kasese Municipal Council approved the 2024/2025 Financial Year Budget amounting to over shillings 22 billion to finance a number of activities including infrastructural development social services and improvement of garbage collection among others.

In an interview with Messiah Radio yesterday at his office in Kasese town, the Municipality Mayor, Mr. Chance Kahindo, said they would continue focusing on the construction of roads, opening new ones, gravelling and tarmacking the major ones under the Road Rehabilitation Fund and the Uganda Support to Cities and Municipal Infrastructural Development (UCMID) programmes.

On May 30, last year, Kahindo told Messiah Radio that Council had been allocated shillings 57 billion under the UCMID programme to construct more important roads in the urban centre.

He named the roads to be worked upon including Henry Bwambale, Kijongo, Bukonzo rise, Kasese road, Isebiira (Kizungu), Lincoln, Saad and Mutanywana in Nyamwamba and Central Divisions respectively.

The Mayor now says they are waiting for the contractors in April to begin the construction works.

He also reveals that his council plans to construct classroom blocks and pit latrines at some government grant –aided primary schools.
