St. James Basenia Church of Uganda in St. Paul’s Deanery of South Rwenzori Diocese has officially been elevated to a Parish status and subsequently inaugurated by the Diocesan Bishop, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku.
During an inauguration service, the Bishop also installed Rev. Jackson Wanzalabana as the first Vicar of the new parish and confirmed 52 Christians into the Anglican faith.
Founded on March 17, 1991 by the family of the Late Tanazio Muhindo, St. James Basenia Church of Uganda (now a parish) will host St. Andrew’s Kihalimu Church of Uganda as its local church.
Officiating at the function, Bishop Baluku implored the parishioners to always work as a team for the sustainability and development of the parish.
Quoting the Biblical Book of Ecclesiastes 4:9 -10, the Prelate explained that once the parishioners observe teamwork, they would be able to strengthen their relationship, solve their problems, learn and have the courage to share ideas for development.
He, however, indicated that with the courage and unity exhibited at the beginning, he was sure that the new parish would move forward in promoting spirituality.
The Man of God urged the parishioners to desist from implementing multiple programs that would in turn come to a halt due to financial constraints. The
Mrs. Anna Kule, the Head Laity at St. Paul’s Cathedral who has also been caretaking the new parish in the same position, applauded the office of the Bishop for responding positively to the request of the Christians who had completed 10 years patiently waiting for their church to be elevated to a parish status.
She assured the Bishop that the healing and deliverance ministry at the said church would continue in an attempt to save the souls of many people.
Speaking to Messiah Radio in a jovial mood, Rev. Jackson Wanzalabana, the first Vicar at the new parish, pledged to serve the Christians without discrimination and ensure that they grow spiritually, socially and economically.
