Kasese District has registered a case of yellow fever hence posing a health threat to the community.
Yellow fever is described as a tropical virus disease affecting the liver and kidneys, causing fever.
It is transmitted to humans by the bites of infected Aedes and Haemagogus mosquitoes that live in forests.
The symptoms of yellow fever include fever, chills, severeheadache, back pain, general body aches, nausea, vomiting, and fatigueand body weakness.
Mr. Arafat Bwambale, the District Surveillance Focal Person says that the registered case was discovered in Bukonzo County East and the victim is currently being managed from home by health experts.
Bwambale emphasizes the need for the public to embrace sleeping under treated mosquito nets, wearing long sleeved clothes and closing houses early in the evening hours.
He also encourages the residents to get vaccinated against the disease at all the established health facilities in their respective communities.
