Former Kasese District FDC Chairperson, Mr. Saulo Maate has called on government to expedite the process of fulfilling all the presidential pledges made to the people of Kasese.
The outspoken Maate sounded the call today morning while addressing the press at Virina Gardens in Kasese town
Maate, who referred to the recent visit of the President to Kasese district to officiate over the thanksgiving of Gen. Wilson Mbasu Mbadi, the Minister of State for Trade and Hon. Godfrey Baluku Kabbyanga, the Minister of State in-charge of National Guidance, said the function should have been used to remind the Head of State about the unfulfilled pledges made to the people of Kasese.
He, however, didn’t disclose those unfulfilled pledges to the press.
According to him, the Rwenzori Sub region played a big role for NRM during the liberation struggle, a reason why it should be given a special consideration in terms of appointments by government.
He used the same platform to express his disappointment over the manner in which the Uganda Law Council denied a temporary practicing certificate to Kenyan Senior Counsel Martha Wangari Karua. The certificate would have allowed Karua to represent opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye and Hajj Obeid Lutale in Ugandan courts.
Besigye and Lutale are being tried in the General Court Martial, where they face charges of illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
