Mr. Misairi Thembo Kahungu commonly known as Ogga, a 41 year – old resident of Kiriba village in Kitabu Sub-county, Bukonzo County East in Kasese district has been officially blessed by his family relatives and friends to pursue his political career.

Ogga is among the 12 FDC members who are vying for the party flag to represent the electorate of Bukonzo County East in the 12th Parliament of Uganda.

Led by Mr. John Kahungu, the father to the parliamentary hopeful, the family relatives and friends while at their home in Kiriba village welcomed Ogga’s idea and told him to go ahead until he realizes success.

Addressing the congregation that involved the Sub-county FDC Chairpersons and party mobilisers from the 10 lower local governments in the constituency, Ogga based his message under the theme,  “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up,” which was drawn from the Biblical Book of James 4:10.

The outspoken FDC member reported that he has humbled himself to be lifted by the Lord to represent the people of Bukonzo County East after sailing through the 2026 General Elections.

Ogga told the gathering that after sailing through, he would draft a private member’s bill aimed at giving mandate to the sub-counties to spend their funds up to shillings 5 million without seeking the district’s approval when it comes to searching for a contractor.

On the issue of health, Ogga happily stressed that he would advocate for more health centres in fulfillment of the government policy that mandates every parish to have a Health Centre II and Health Centre III in every sub-county.

He also pledged to lobby government to establish seed secondary schools in the sub-counties that have lived without despite being a government policy.

Ogga noted that if voted to represent the electorate in the August House, he would establish skills’ centres in every sub-county to cater for the youth, young and single mothers among other categories of people.

Other issues that the parliamentary hopeful promised to tackle included the establishment of a resettlement centre for the people living in disaster prone areas to use during the rainy season and train disaster response units at local levels.

He commissioned his mobilisers to use peaceful means of canvassing support for him and vowed not to contest as an independent candidate should he lose the party primary elections and appealed to his competitors to behave in the same way should they lose the flag to him.

Mr. Chance Kahindo, the Kasese Municipality Mayor, who attended the function, discouraged the FDC members from the politics of looking at regions and advised them to always look at the best candidate that has the potential to outrun candidates from other political parties.

The FDC Governor in-charge of the Rwenzori sub-region, Mr. Saulo Maate, challenged the party mobilizers to avoid politics of hatred as they go out to mobilize support for their party.

During the function, the FDC leadership of Kitabu sub-county led by January Bwambale Kathoboli handed Mr. Ogga a wooden key and decorated him with the party attire.  ENDS
