Grade I Magistrate’s Court sets December 16 for handling disobedience of lawful orders against former Bukonzo East MP

BY OBED KULE KITHENDE

Grade I Magistrate’s Court sitting today at Rukoki in Kasese district has set December 16, 2024 as the date on which it will handle a case of criminal trespass and disobedience of lawful orders against former Bukonzo County East MP, Aprunalis Kithende Kalibogha.

It is alleged that since 2020 while at Rwentutu in Lake Katwe Sub-county, Kasese district, Kithende and others at large have been continuously trespassing into land reportedly belonging to the Diocese of Kasese.

The latest arrest for Kithende, Mr. Gideon Bahindi, and Doviko Kisolhu happened last year and the group was subsequently remanded to Mubuku Government Prison and later released on bail.

Today, Kithende and group returned to court and the presiding Magistrate, Isha Alinda, observed that the case had stayed for a long, asking the Diocese of Kasese to bring evidence so that justice is served.

Counsel Geoffrey Lubangula, one of Kithende’s Lawyers told the press shortly after the court session that they were ready to proceed with the case until justice is served.

However, an effort to get a comment from the side of the Diocese of Kasese was futile by press time as one of the Church Ministers who was seen at court declined to speak to the press.
