Kasese Chief Magistrate’s Court orders four cattle keepers to either pay shillings 2m each or be imprisoned

Kasese Chief Magistrate’s Court has ordered four cattle keepers from Kahendero cell in Muhokya Town Council, Kasese District to either pay shillings 2 million each or spend four years in prison for illegally grazing in the Queen Elizabeth National Park.

They are Charles Kagoro, 58, Adam Kamis, 49, Ali Karim, 40 and Charles Mwesigye, 48.

Court presided over by Her Worship Betty Ajok today heard that on November 01, 202, at 3pm, Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) staff saw the cows in the protected area of the Queen Elizabeth National Park, confiscated them and kept them at Kahendero Rangers Post.

The Chief Magistrate was also told that when the owners of the cows came to collect them, they were subsequently arrested and transferred to Kasese Central Police Station.

Her Worship Ajok then asked the victims to either pay shillings 2 million each or spend four years in prison for illegally entering the park and grazing domestic animals in a protected area.
