A section of councilors from the Central Division in Kasese Municipality has appealed to government, religious and cultural institutions to investigate the causes of accidents that have continuously claimed lives of road users between Kasese Cobalt Company Limited and Kyababinga junctions along the Kasese – Kikorongo Highway.
The councilors made the appeal today during their full council sitting at the Division Council Hall.
Ms Shamila Masika, the Councilor representing the Town Centre Ward said it would be a good idea for the government, cultural and religious institutions to take keen interests in identifying the possible causes of the accidents that have persistently occurred in one area and claimed the lives of people.
She, however, stressed that she was unhappy with the Traffic Police Officers for their alleged failure to control the taxi drivers from the practice of overspeeding and overloading passengers.
Mr. Jockus Bijwanga, the Councilor representing Nyakabingo II Ward wondered why the over 20 people have lost their lives within the same mileage from Kasese town to Kyababinga junction.
The Central Division Chairperson, Mr. Martin Safari conquered with the councilors, saying he was also concerned about the same.
He revealed that they were looking for prayer warriors who can fast and pray for the area so that it becomes free from accidents. According to him, unverified information indicates that there is a devil in form of a woman that crosses the area into the Queen Elizabeth National Park.
