South Rwenzori Diocese has today commissioned a skilling project aimed at benefiting over 30 young mothers in Kabatunda Archdeaconry.

The project that majorly centres on Tailoring and Hairdressing was commissioned by the Diocesan Secretary, the Rev. Can. Nelson Walina at St. Peter’s Kabatunda Church of Uganda in Kabatunda – Kirabaho Town Council, Busongora County North in Kasese district.

Addressing the beneficiaries, Can. Walina revealed that the skilling project was one of the Bishop’s initiatives of empowering the young mothers so that they become self reliant and sustain their families.

He categorically put it clear that the project would not only benefit the Anglicans but also other young mothers from other religious denominations.

The man of God used the same platform to encourage the beneficiaries to use the skills acquired from centre to earn a living and embrace the saving culture for economic development.

Rev. Betty Mbambu Mwero, the Diocesan Mothers’ Union Coordinator applauded the Bishop for fulfilling the pledge that he recently made to the young mothers and school dropouts in the area.

She, however, challenged the beneficiaries to work on their mindset change towards developing their families.

Ven. Laban T. Mugisa, the area Archdeacon said he was happy with the Bishop for establishing a skilling project in his Archdeaconry, pledging to pray for the Bishop so that he continues dreaming more development projects for the benefit of the Diocese.

Some of the beneficiaries described the project as timely. ENDS
