Kasese residents urged to promote tourism attractions in the district

The Kasese District Tourism Officer has urged the residents in the district to actively promote all the tourism attractions in their respective areas as the district gears up to host the National celebrations to mark this year’s World Tourism Day.

The celebrations which will take place at Nyakasanga Playground in Kasese town on September 30 have been organized under the theme, “Tourism and Peace,” with President Museveni expected to be the Chief Guest.

Speaking to people from different organizations and educational institutions that had turned for the community cleanliness exercise in preparation for the event, Ms Jovia Mbambu told the participants that in addition to embracing the cleanliness exercise, they should also consider marketing the tourism potentials and natural beauty of the district.

Mbambu, who described Kasese as an epicenter of tourism in Uganda, encouraged the residents to warmly welcome the visitors who will attend the celebrations that she likened to as an opportunity to boost tourism in the district.

SP Luka Mbusa, the Rwenzori East Regional Community Liaisons Officer, urged the residents to take advantage of the celebrations to explore diverse attractions in the district.

On behalf of the security operatives in the district, SP Mbusa said they would tighten security to ensure that the function ends successfully, appealing to the residents to always move with identifications before falling into victims of insecurity. 

Hon. Julius Muhindo, the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu Minister of Tourism and Disaster Mitigation highlighted the need for the subjects to promote their cultural heritage and protect the beauty of the Rwenzoris through environmental conservation.
