More than 40 FDC supporters from Kidodo Cell in the Central Division of Kasese Municipality have defected to the ruling NRM party.
They announced their allegiance to the NRM party on Sunday evening during a mid- term accountability rally that was organized by the Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament, Hon. Ferigo Kambale at Boosi Gardens in the area.
The defectors including Peninah Niziabake, Robert Kyanakirere, Emmanuel Singoma and Juliana Kabugho among others said they decided to defect to the NRM party after looking at the pro-people programmes that it has been able to implement in the district.
They were officially welcomed by the Kasese Municipality NRM Chairperson, Mr. Selevano Kiiro Mulhondi, who told them never to be threatened by anyone but to stick to the principles of their new political party.
Earlier in his accountability, Hon. Ferigo Kambale, who outlined a number of projects being implemented in his constituency using the money from Central government including buying medical equipment and building a staff house at Railway Health Centre III, also said he personally engaged the UWA management to erect an electric wire fence along the boundaries of Queen Elizabeth National Park in the area.
He also pledged to establish a skills centre that in the area where the youth and young mothers would be trained in Salon Management, Tailoring, Phone Repair and Maintenance among others
