A total of 192 sacks of fast maturing cassava stem cuttings have so far been given to the residents of Kasese Municipality by Kithulha Care Initiative with an aim of fighting against the challenge of food insecurity.
Yesterday, the organization that operates in Kasese Municipality delivered another consignment of 80 sacks to the residents of Misika, Kihara and Kigoro in Nyamwamba Division.
Over the weekend, the same organization donated 70 sacks to the residents of Bulembia Division while another 42 sacks were given to the residents of Kirembe Ward in the Central Division.
Mr. Charles Nzaghale Mwanga, the Chief Executive Officer at Kithulha Care Initiative says the idea behind supplying cassava stem cuttings is aimed at boosting food security and income generation among the residents.
Herbert Bwambale, the Municipal Secretary for Social Services who also doubles as the Councilor representing Rukooki Ward has since asked the beneficiaries to use the cassava stem cuttings productively.
Some of the beneficiaries pledged to plant and maintain their cassava plantations in bid to fight against hunger in their families.
