The police in Kasese district have arrested a 16-year-old boy for allegedly defiling a three- year-old minor.
The suspect was arrested last evening from Kikonzo Cell of the Central Division in Kasese Municipality.
According to Mr. Oniz Masereka, who is an old brother to victim, at around 3:30pm, as the child was playing within their compound, they heard her making a louder voice and on reaching her, they found the suspect red-handed while holding the minor on the thighs.
He said after the incident, they immediately grabbed both the suspect and the victim and handed them to police for further investigations.
Mr. John Siriwayo, the Municipal Councilor representing the area, who strongly condemned the act, stressed that when he was called after the incident, he immediately rushed to police and helped the victim’s relatives to follow the required procedures.
However, he attributes such acts to the influence of alcoholic and other associated drugs within the members of the community.
Mr. Joackim Bwakya, the Acting Officer in-charge of Kasese Central Police Station confirmed having received the suspect in their custody.
He told Messiah Radio that after making thorough investigations, they would commit the suspect to the courts of law.
