10 Boda-boda Riders’ Associations receive motorcycles in Busongora County North, Kasese

At least 10 Boda-boda Riders’ Associations in Busongora County North, Kasese district have received brand new motorcycles from the area Member of Parliament under his loans’ scheme.

The scheme codenamed “Vuga Habwa Sowedi Kitanywa,” was yesterday officially launched by the State Minister for Transport, Hon. Fred Byamukama at Hima Town Council Offices.

The programme aims at giving loans in form of motorcycles to organized groups or associations that save on a daily basis and upon one’s activeness, they are given motorcycles on loan and the beneficiaries are required to pay 5.3 million shillings in a period of 18 months.

While handing over the motorcycles to the beneficiary groups, Hon. Byamukama commended Hon. Sowedi Kitanywa for exhibiting the true characters of a good leader and pledged to support him to develop Busongora County North.

He used the same platform to ask the people to support the ruling NRM government for better service delivery. He confirmed that government would soon construct Kasese Airfield and elevate it to an International Airport and construct a Standard –Gauge Railway that would be extended to Kasese district.

On his part, Hon. Sowedi Kitanywa, revealed that ever since he entered parliament, he has been able to lobby for the roads, health facilities, churches and schools and other programmes.

In his remarks, the Kasese District Chairperson, Mr. Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi requested the Minister to remind the President of the pledge he made to the people of Busongora County North.

The pledge according to him is giving them a district status that would be created out of the current Kasese district.
