Uganda National Traders’ Alliance commits to advocate for the rehabilitation of stalled factories in Kasese

BY JOACKIM KULE MUHESI

The Uganda National Traders’ Alliance (UNATA) has pledged to advocate for the rehabilitation of stalled factories in Kasese district.

The President of the Alliance, Mr. Godffrey Katongole made the pledge yesterday during the launch of consultative meetings with traders aimed at documenting data about the challenges affecting business across the country.

Mr. Katongole revealed that the Alliance had observed that Kasese district has many factories that are no longer operational due to high taxes levied on such enterprises.

Katongole explained that such stalled factories should be blamed for the high rate of unemployment among the youth hence leading to absolute poverty among the communities.

Mrs. Sarah Ithungu Baleke told the gathering that her father, Mr. Yofesi Masereka Mutanywana commonly known as Richman had a lot of factories but following the high taxes levied on them, the family was left with no option apart from closing their said businesses.
