Security in Kasese to pursue suspected ADF attackers

Security in Kasese has revealed that it is suspecting that the armed assailants that torched a truck at Katholhu in Nyakiyumbu sub-county killing two people and injuring more others could be part of the ADF rebels that attempted to cross to the country last week.

The Kasese Resident District Commissioner, Lt. Joe Walusimbi says following the last night attack, police and the army have launched a hunt for the assailants.

The Deputy RDC in-charge of Bukonzo County where the attack happened, Lt. Maate Magwara has since asked the people to be calm and vigilant, adding that the ADF rebels in the Eastern DRC are a threat to the areas neighboring the country.

The Nyakiyumbu Sub-county L. C III Chairperson, Mr. Peter Sunday Kakule says when they heard the bullet sounds, they immediately alerted the Commanding Officer of the 5 Mountain Battalion at Rusese who in turn informed him to tell the residents to remain in their houses since security had taken charge of the situation.

Edreda Biira, a 38 year –old  resident of Kikongo in Rugendabara –Kikongo Town Council who survived the attack told journalists at Bwera Government  General Hospital that by the time of the incident, she was asleep but when she woke up, heard some sound of bullets rocking the vehicle before it was set ablaze by the assailants.
