The Police in the Rwenzori East policing Region, Kasese district have officially commented on the fire that gutted Bukangara Child Care Nursery and Primary School in Nyakiyumbu Sub-county, Bukonzo County West today morning.
SP Nelson Tumushime, the Regional Police Spokesperson says preliminary investigations indicate that the incident that gutted a building hosting the dormitory of primary seven was caused by an electricity short circuit.
According to him, the incident happened at 10am as the learners were in their classrooms and neither injuries nor deaths were registered.
Subsequently, the Police Mouthpiece has advised proprietors of schools to be consulting technical people for guidance in an attempt to plan for calamities including fire outbreaks.
According to him, since the month of January, this is the third incident to happen in Kasese District.
Mr. Zepha Mbusa, a resident of the area says the affected block is a three-roomed dormitory which was subsequently deroofed by the fire.
He notes that several properties including suitcases, clothes and books have been burnt to ashes following the inferno. ENDS
