The territorial police in Bwera division, Kasese district are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of one Claire Akello, a juvenile Acholi, whose body was found yesterday hanging in a jackfruit tree.
The Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, has confirmed the incident that happened at 13:00hours at Kalitusi Cell in Mpondwe- Lhubiriha Town Council.
According to him, the deceased is alleged to have escaped from her Aunt in Kampala and followed a certain lady in Kitholhu sub county, searching for a job.
Upon reaching there, she did not manage and resorted to moving to Rusese Cell for the same purpose.
While at Rusese where she had spent a week, on Monday, the person whom she had followed went for her but she refused.
It is also reported that at around 13:00 hours, she left the home, claiming that she was going to look for another job elsewhere, and instead she was found hanging with a mosquito net on a jackfruit tree in Kalitusi Cell next to the home of Sarah Biira. A report was made at Bwera Police Station by Geoffrey Kachine, the Chairperson of Kalitusi Cell, the scene was visited and documented and the body was taken to Bwera hospital mortuary for a postmortem
