The territorial police in Kasese Division of Rwenzori East policing region, Kasese District are investigating circumstances surrounding the death of an unidentified male adult, whose lifeless body was discovered in a farm situated in Umoja Cell, Nyamwamba Division of Kasese Municipality.
ASP Elly Maate, the Regional Police Spokesperson says the body of the deceased was discovered today morning at around 7:00am in a farm belonging to Mzee Paul Rutagarama.
According to him, after being notified, the police visited the scene and introduced a sniffer dog, moved for a distance but lost track.
ASP Maate says the deceased was lynched from a cassava plantation and his body was pulled through the fence for approximately 20 meters to a nearby farm, suspected to have gone to steal and had no single document found on him for identification.
Subsequently, the Regional Mouthpiece adds that the deceased’s body was taken to Kasese Municipal Health Center III Mortuary for Postmortem.
He has since called upon anyone missing their dear ones to visit the mortuary to identify the body for a decent burial before warning the population to desist from acts of lawlessness.
Mr. Edward Bwambale, the Local Council I Chairperson for Umoja Cell says residents were awash with information in the early hours indicating that the deceased had panga cuts all over the body and could not easily be identified.
