Nyamwamba Division chairperson Mr Brian Kauntura has implored the youth to pick interest in the various government programmes aimed at empowering them with seed capital to start business ventures.
Brian Kauntura, who was speaking to Messiah Radio this evening, argued that many young people are not benefitting from a series of government projects including Parish Development Model-PDM, Youth Livelihoods Programmes and Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme-UWEP because they lack information on how best to be considered for the same programmes.
Kauntura said young people must embrace these programmes and make the best out of them in order to improve their livelihoods reiterating that forming entreprise groups will be a key step in making them suitable contenders.
Meanwhile, the Nyamwamba Division boss who revealed that the distribution of national identity cards for residents in Nyamwamba Division has today started at the division headquarters has urged the people to turn up and pick the document which fundamentally proves them as citizens of Uganda.
He, however, cautioned the people against enticing officials of the National Identification and Registration Authority-NIRA with bribes so that they skip the queue and are hurriedly issued their identity cards. In the same vein, Kauntura also cautioned NIRA officials against soliciting any bribes warning that any culprits would be dealt with in accordance with the level.
