Musicians have been urged to promote their own culture through the songs they compose.

Musicians in Kasese district have been challenged to promote their own culture through the songs they compose other than copying other people’s lyrics and style.

The challenge was sounded today by Phina Mugerwa Masanyarazi, the General Secretary for Uganda Musicians Association while addressing Kasese based local artistes at TJ Global Hotel in Kasese town.

Executive members of Uganda Musicians Association –UMA with support from the Microfinance Support Centre are currently traversing all the districts in the country preaching the message of unity, cooperation and savings among the artistes.

Mugerwa, who warned her fellow artistes against alcoholism and any other forms of drugs, said this would be the time for them to embrace the saving culture coupled with initiating some income generating projects.

Alia Biira, a Kasese based Female Artiste who was elected to lead her fellow artistes under UMA called for mindset change.
