The NRM’s flag bearer for Mumbuzi Cell Local Council I chairpersonship, Samson Mutahunga has threatened to run to court challenging the election of Annet Mbambu Kule who was declared winner of the recently concluded village elections.
Addressing the press today morning, Mutahunga indicated that he had filed a petition against the electoral commission officials who conducted the exercise and the winner herself over a number of reasons.
He cited the alleged failure to count voters who had lined behind the two candidates, arguing that electoral commission officials only counted the voters behind his opponent.
He also indicated that the elections were allegedly associated with violence, disruption and intimidation at the polling station and also unlawful change of the lining up position of his line to another position that influenced the voters to disperse.
He said that in his petition, he is seeking the cancellation of the results and that court orders for a fresh election.
Mumbuzi Cell NRM Chairperson, Mr. Henry Ahabyona noted that the party backs Mutahunga to petition against the election results because the voting exercise was marred with a lot of irregularities.
