Katunguru Seed Secondary School is struggling to teach science subjects due to lack of a laboratory.
The O-level school bordering Kasese District mainly serves learners around the Katunguru fishing area in Kasese. The deputy head teacher’s office is partly serving as a laboratory for the school that has an enrollment of 214 learners.
Patrick Nsemerirwe, the Deputy Head teacher says that besides lacking a laboratory, the school also doesn’t have a library. He argues that the absence of such facilities which are important in education has affected the performance of the students. He says that they are forced to keep textbooks and laboratory equipment in the head teacher’s office.
Benon Nuwamanya a Senior One student, who dreams of becoming a medical doctor, wants the government to emphasize the construction of a science laboratory and library at the school to boost their performance in science subjects.
