Sarah Masereka Baleke argues that many parents are struggling with a lack in their finances largely because agriculture which the major source of income for most has been largely affected by the effects of climate change.
Baleke requested school administrators and such parents to develop a flexible payment schedule to enable learners be in school.
She also emphasized parents to send their children to institutions of learning on time so that they catch up with the syllabus since this term is only for two months.
The legislator also uses the opportunity to reveal that her office has secured half bursaries to some selected categories of learners that are up for grabs, and called on the interested parents to approach her office.
Mr. Eriab Bwambale Kakundese, the Head teacher at Mundongo primary School, adds his voice to the legislator’s advice on learning, noting that majority of the learners in his school didn’t report on the first day.
According to him, he registered a paltry 50% turn-out of the 1280 learners expected to have reported to school at the start of the term.
