The Kasese District Returning Officer has reiterated that nomination of persons interested in standing for positions of village chairperson and women council committees is completely free of charge.
Mr. Godfrey Mbabazi says that there shouldn’t be anyone to charge the candidates money for him to be nominated.
Speaking to Messiah Radio, Mbabazi encouraged the interested persons to go to the sub-county headquarters, where they have instituted nomination centers with only National IDs and endorsements by the sponsoring political parties while the independents only present IDs.
Mbabazi, also cautioned the candidates against commencing campaigns before the scheduled date. He said that the women council committees will begin campaigns on Monday 21th -22nd and the village chairpersons from 20th -27th. He encouraged them to only campaign from the villages that they live in.
Meanwhile, some of the candidates for the villages in Karambi sub-county, Busongora County West, have testified having had a successful nominations exercise.
Mr. Moses Buyambithe, the NRM candidate for Kamasasa I village pledged to uphold the campaign against food insecurity, peace and unity and advancing development, and supporting education programmes within their communities.
Beatrice Kabakonzo Nyabahasa, the NRM chairperson for Kituti II Village, urged voters to elect leaders of their choice. ENDS
