Kasese District is mourning the demise of a veteran head teacher, businessman, a farmer and a profound opinion leader.
Edson Hezekia Bakwanya, who breathed his last at Mulago Hospital on Friday at the age of 72, succumbed to Kidney failure and Anemia according to a postmortem report issued by the Mulago hospital.
Bakwanya, a native resident of Kinyabisiki village, Kyondo sub-county in Bukonzo County East, started his teaching profession in 1977 after obtaining Grade III certificate.
He started his profession at Muhokya primary school before he was transferred to Nsenyi primary school as a class teacher. He was later elevated to head teacher serving at different primary schools including Ngaiga, Hima-Public, Kitalikibi, Sebwe, Ibanda, Mirami and Kinyabisiki primary school in Kyondo sub-county before he retired in 2010.
The Kasese District Vice Chairperson, Mr. Jerveseous Monday Bwambale described the deceased as someone who was committed to service during his tenure in most of the schools he taught.
Gender Minister for Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu, Hon. Juliet Best Bakoko challenged the parents to emulate the character of the deceased who he said was committed to education.
