Kasese Health workers advised to seek early retirement if they cannot offer effective healthcare services to the population

Lt. Joe Walusimbi, the Kasese Resident District Commissioner (RDC) advised the health workers who are not able to effectively deliver healthcare services to seek early retirement before they are forcefully sacked from civil service.

The RDC sounded the advice last evening while officiating at the closure of a two -day Bi-Annual Performance Review Meeting of all health facilities across the district that was held at Rwenzori International Hotel in Kasese town.

The review meeting targeting health in-charges of Health Centre IIs, IIIs, IVs and hospitals and the development partners of the district was aimed at looking at HIV/AIDs access and positivity rates, family planning utilization, malarial prevalence and latrine coverage among others.

Lt. Walusimbi told the participants that his office was awash with information that some health workers absent themselves from duty, arguing that they were posted to the health facilities located in the hard to reach areas while others attend to their personal businesses.

According to him, such excuses are contrary to the government’s objective of establishing free healthcare services to the population.

The RDC, however, applauded the health in-charges at Rwesande Health Centre IV, Nyamirami Health Centre IV and Bugoye Health Centre III for their commitment towards work.

In his remarks, Mr. Girivazio Monday Bwambale, the Kasese District Secretary for Social Services, indicated that despite some challenges being faced in the health sector, government is committed towards rectifying them.
