Kasese Grade I Magistrate’s Court sitting today at Rukoki has remanded to Mubuku Government Prison the Chairperson of Banyabindi Cultural and Development Trust on allegations of forging receipts and invoices belonging to the association.

Court presided over by His Worship Isha Alinda, a Grade I Magistrate heard that on August 06, this year, Mr. Augustine Byabasaija while at Mwaro Cell of Rukoki Ward in Nyamwamba Division of Kasese Municipality forged payment receipts for the Banyabindi Cultural and Development Trust.

However, the Magistrate did not allow the suspect to take plea because there was no State Attorney in the court session and ordered Byabasaija to return to court on September 30. He is expected to appear before the Chief Magistrate for plea taking.

Counsel Geoffrey Mishelle, a Lawyer for the complaints told the press after the court session that his clients would wait until September 30 for the accused person to take plea and get more updates about the matter.

Mr. Wilson Bitamazire Mijumba, the Vice Chairperson for the Banyabindi Cultural and Development Trust told the press that they sued their Chairperson because of the alleged failure to account for 900 million shillings belonging to the association’s members.

The same court sent back a renowned herbalist, Abdul Kasita until October 15 on allegations of murdering two children in Kasese Municipality.

Ezra Muhindo Sumete, the father to the deceased children who had attended the court session told our reporter that he was happy with the steps so far taken by court, adding that he was hopeful that justice would be served.
