The Holy Spiritis the third person in the God head. He is given to each one of us to help us live holy lives and be fruitful witnesses for Christ.

First of all, everything we receive from God is by faith.  However it is important to note that several factors contribute to preparing your heart for the filling of the Holy Spirit.

RECEIVE :First you must desire to live a life that will please the lord. As our lord Jesus Christ promised” blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled”. Mt 5:6. Living a life of righteousness is impossible unless you receive Christ john 1:12” to those who did receive him he gave the right to be children of God”.  So step one receive Christ and have faith in him.

SURRENDER/REST: Secondly be willing to surrender your life totally to the lordship of Christ and the goodNews Rom 12:1-2. Accept to be led by the word of God, which gives you assurance for your salvation and protection, Rom 8:1, for those in Christ there is no condemnation. Psalm 119:105 your word is lamp for my feet and light on my path.

REPENT (john 1:9): Through repentance we empty ourselves of what the word has convicted us , then the spirit start filling our lives with spiritual folders, with new ideas and strategies to govern our lives.Once we repent we receive the loving forgiveness from God.

ASK: At this stage you can ask for anything in the name of Jesus because you are already in him and he in you, he will grant it, Luke 11:13, he will hear your voice because he knows you by name john 10:3

WALK: Dear brothers and sisters once the spirit is in you, then you walk as the spirit leads you, your speech, dressing, friends, decisions, strategies, actions changes. Gal 5:16, 5:1,

Now once we are filled we now have the power to witness

  • The spirit gives us words to speak luke 12:11-12
  • He leads us to evangelism opportunities Acts4:8
  • Gives us people to speak to Acts8:29-31, 10:19

Since the holy spirit makes us to be effective witnesses and gives us boldness to testify , let us go and make disciples not vowing to preach those already made but  make new ones. Don’t sit but go, because we are called to be going disciples not sitting disciples.
