Hundreds of Christians from the different denominations yesterday thronged Kigoro Primary School playground in Rukooki sub-county for the thanksgiving ceremony of the Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku.
Bishop Baluku told the congregation that he was returning thanks to God for enabling his become the third Bishop of South Rwenzori Diocese among other achievements.
The prelate, who succeeded the second and now retired Bishop Jackson Thembo Nzerebende, was enthroned Bishop on December 13, 2020 by the Archbishop of the Province of Church of the Uganda, His Grace, the Most Rev. Steven Kazimba Mugalu.
In his preaching, the Bishop of North Ankole Diocese, the Rt. Rev. Amos Magezi, urged church leaders to embrace love, teamwork, unity and cooperation among all the religious denominations.
Bishop Francis Acquirinus Kibira of the Catholic Diocese of Kasese, who also attended the Church service and gave the last blessing to the congregation, encouraged the parents to nurture their children into God fearing citizens.
At the same function, at least shillings 28 million was raised both in cash and pledges during a mini- fundraising drive and ground breaking ceremony of a Sunday School Church at St. Luke Kigoro Church of Uganda in Kasese Archdeaconry.
The fundraising drive was championed by Bishop Nason as part of the activities during his thanksgiving ceremony.
However, the exercise was jointly officiated over by the Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Kasese, the Rt. Rev. Francis Acquirinus Kibira and the Bishop of North Ankole Diocese, the Rt. Amos Magezi. According to Bishop Baluku, the construction works are estimated at shillings 100 million.
In his remarks, Bishop Kibira encouraged the parents to always feed their children on a balanced diet as well as giving them quality education.
