South Rwenzori Diocese is registering strides in the implementation of her 10- year strategic development plan, according to a report made by Rt. Rev. Nason Baluku.
The strategic development plan launched in 2021 – 2030 highlights focus on advancing both spiritual growth, evangelism, social services, agriculture, ecosystem and socio- economic empowerment among others.
During the diocese’s accountability meeting to the various stakeholders including those from government, cultural, educational, health, financial and religious institutions held at the Rwenzori International Hotel this evening, Bishop Baluku indicated a significant progress in the implementation of the strategic plan.
The bishop noted that they’re progressing in healthcare delivery, with Nyabugando and St Paul’s having been elevated to health centre IV and Hospital respectively before adding that all efforts are underway to have Kagando Hospital also elevated into referral hospital by 2030.
The bishop also indicated that they were improving formal and informal education standards across the entire diocese, through the Skilling program, construction of schools, classrooms, wash facilities and sponsoring the learners with tuition and fees. While in nature conservation, the Bishop said that they have supported the growing of more than 500,000 trees.
Kasese Municipality Member of Parliament, Ferigo Kambale praised the diocese for championing programs that align with the NDP IV and the NRM manifesto. He pledged on behalf of the rest of the legislators from the district to support the diocese especially in promoting social services.
Kasese District Chairperson, Eliphaz Muhindi Bukombi indicated that government and the church work together because they all aim at improving the people’s quality of life.
Kasese Deputy RDC in charge of Bukonzo, Lt. Maate Magwara challenged other religious denominations to emulate the same so as to shape the world positively and spiritually upright.
